In order to minimize the amount of bread waste produced in the Netherlands, the team will collect old bread from bakeries. Bakkerij Dekker & Winkler is able to provide the team with 6 loafs of bread per day that would have otherwise been thrown away or given away as farm animal food. The team took this bread and used it as the grains required for brewing beer. By adding malt, hops, water and yeast the team was able to produce a homemade and food waste tackling beverage.
